Studies on the Trend of Traffic Accidents






Abstract
This study was carried out to identify the factors influencing the occurrence of traffic accidents and to provide basic information for the establishment of counter measures to reduce the traffic accidents. The regression analysis were conducted on tie selected variables such as population, total number of cars, total number of driver licence and total number of policeman that are presumed to affect traffic accident by utilizing mortality rate and injury rate of traffic accidents. evaluate the As a result of the nationwide movement for traffic accident reduction, the traffic accidents are showed the decreasing tendency recently, but still remains very high. The property damage is greatly increasing, which requires the appropriate counter measures. The comparison of traffic related indicators and traffic accident cases shows that the increase in road expansion and safety facilities cannot keep up with the rapid increase in car possession and driver license acquisition.
In conclusion, traffic accidents are not a consequence of single factor but multiple environmental factors. Thus multifarious approach and efforts considering multiple environmental factors are needed to reduce traffic accidents.
